How to fix QuickBooks Multi-User Mode Not Working issue?

There are many ways by which you can fix QuickBooks Multi-User Mode Not Working-

Solution 1- Check and Configure Firewall setting

  • Click the Windows button to configure QuickBooks firewall setting

  • Type Windows Firewall in the search box to open Windows Firewall settings.

  • Select the Firewall Advanced option from the left sidebar.

  • Inbound and outbound rules are located on the Advanced Settings tab.

  • When you select Inbound Rules, you will be asked to select a new rule.

  • After selecting the port in the New Rule window, you must select TCP.

  • You must add the port depending on the version of QuickBooks you are using.

  • Except for outbound rules, previous actions need to be repeated.

  • For QuickBooks Desktop 2019, enter 8019, XXXX.

  • For QuickBooks Desktop 2020 and later versions, enter 8019, XXXX.

  • For QuickBooks Desktop 2018, type port numbers 8019, 56728, and 55378–55382.

  • For QuickBooks Desktop 2017, type port numbers 8019, 56727, and 55373–55377.

  • Now you need to add QuickBooks to the firewall.

  • This time instead of choosing a port, we will add the QuickBooks program to our inbound and outbound firewall rules. Otherwise all the procedures listed above will remain the same.

  • You will need to choose New Rule under Advanced Firewall Configuration.

  • At this time you will need to choose Application and then navigate to the directory that contains the executable file for the program.

Solution 2 - Rename the .TLG and the .ND Files

  • First you need to log in to QuickBooks Desktop company file.

  • Open the Product Information window by pressing the F2 key on the home page.

  • Now you will find the location of your company file under File Information. .TLG and .QBW.ND files are found in the same folder.

  • Right click on the folder to rename the file.

  • Now, restart your QuickBooks Desktop and check if the Multi-User mode now works properly.

Solution 3- Add your Server to Windows Host File

  • The host file is located at: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc).

  • If necessary, you can open Notepad as administrator.

  • Also, you need to type the IP address of the server after the last IP address.

  • Now press Tab key and type the server name.

  • Go to File menu and click on Save from there, then click on Exit.

Solution 4- Utilize QuickBooks Database Server Manager

  • The first step is to open and navigate to the QuickBooks Database Server Manager on your server computer desktop.

  • After that click on the Start menu and enter “database” in the space provided.

  • Next, click on the Browse option and search for “Company File(s) QBW” if you cannot find the required folder.

  • Finally, click on the OK button, followed by the Start Scan button.

  • With QDSM, firewall permissions are also fixed after the scan.

  • Click Close.
